Children’s Advocacy Center – 2020
Located in Central Texas on 10.45 acre site. In 2001 a previous owner constructed a 30,000 sf concrete foundation with the intention of building a school. The project was subsequently abandoned. In 2015 the current owner purchased the property with the intent of building a new replacement facility. The building program called for a 16,500 sf facility. The mission of the facility is to identify and assess children that are currently in a repressed environment and provide resources to eliminate these issues. Functions include therapy, play therapy, forensic assessment and evaluation, training, administration, and support. Site development includes nature trail, playground, outdoor area, open air pavilion, parking, and a natural habitat. In an effort to reduce cost the proposed facility design utilized the existing foundation which resulted in a substantial savings to the owner.
